Elsinore’s Chemicals EP release show brings the energy to the High Dive

For anyone who has spent more than one day in the Champaign-Urbana music scene, Elsinore is a familiar name. And one January 30th the local quintet played a release show for their brand new Chemicals EP at the High Dive in Champaign. The concert was originally scheduled to be played at the Cowboy Monkey, but the bands fans came out in droves to preorder tickets and the release show was moved to the High Dive in order to accommodate all of the people who wanted to come see the hometown favorites.
The group took to the stage to play 10 songs, including many a pleasant surprise for the audience. There were songs off the new EP and others from the upcoming full-length Yes Yes Yes, and even a cover of The Postal Service’s “District Sleeps Alone Tonight.” When they broke into “Yes Yes Yes,” Krukid jumped on stage to provide an additional extended passage or rap before the first verse. Then, for their last number, the group played the new single off the EP, “Chemicals” in front of a screen showing the recently completed video for the song.
The High Dive was filled to the brim with fans, only a small percentage of which would have fit into the originally scheduled show at the Cowboy Monkey. Overall it was an energetic performance that had all of the fans showing their love for the local favorites. If you missed this performance, Elsinore will be back on April 30th to open for St. Vincent at The High Dive.
