I’ve always had the expectation that I’ll go through a mid-life crisis. I’d take up photography, learn how to play guitar, and go on a whole Eat, Pray, Love adventure. While contemplating 50-year-old me’s future hobbies, an unexpected “mid-quarter life crisis” hit me head on. I’ve approached this new state through what I call:
The 5 Stages of Change
Stage #1: Denial
“I’m not having a mid-quarter life crisis”
Stage #2: Sadness
“I’m having a mid-quarter life crisis and I’m sad”
Stage #3: Making a sad playlist
“Alexa play ‘Class of 2013’ by Mitski”
Stage #4: Adding to that playlist but only with songs that rebel against the life change
“Alexa play ‘West Coast’ by FIDLAR”
Stage #5: Completing the playlist by adding songs that encapsulate your overall feelings about said life change
“Alexa play ‘Adulting’ by Beach Bunny”
Below is that playlist. I’ve categorized the songs into Stages #3,4,5 so that if you’re experiencing something similar, you can find exactly what you need.
