With finals approaching far faster than any of us would like to admit, we all need a good study playlist. We all have different habits when choosing study tunes, so I’m going to try and address all that, and maybe even some academic topics.

“The Wolves (Act 1&2)” – Bon Iver

Sometimes, I just need some super chill music to study too. Music that I can tune out, or enjoy. This song is super raw, but it drives at you. It will take over your mind.

“My Mathematical Mind” – Spoon

Math finals are the worst. Here’s to wishing we all had a more “Mathematical Mind”.

First Suite in E-Flat arr. Gustav Holst

A lot of the times when studying, it’s best to just kick it to some classical music. It’ll make you feel smart. A little confidence goes a long way.

“Get Me Away From Here I’m Dying” – Belle and Sebastian

We just need someone to share our misery with us most of the time. Let’s face it, finals make us miserable most of the time, Belle and Sebastian get that.

“The Winner Is…” -Devotchka

I like to watch movies I’ve seen a hundred times while studying. It’s comforting. Here’s one from the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack. This tune is also a great tune to write papers to. It’s inspiring, it just motivates me to want to get up and do something.

“Imitosis” –  Andrew Bird

I don’t know the meaning of the word Imitosis, but it sounds like something I learned about in freshman year Biology. Andrew Bird is smart, and listening to him makes me feel smart. Smart is good.

“Light and Day” – The Polyphonic Spree

While you are sitting in the basement of the library at 3am, don’t forget that the sun exists, and you will see it again. In just a few short hours, days or weeks you will be free.

“Orange Shirt” – Discovery

Sometimes, we just need a jam. I dare you not to feel this beat, nod your head or tap your foot. This song captures you.

“Unbelievers” – Vampire Weekend

At the very least you need something to look forward to. Just after finals Modern Vampires of the City, Vampire Weekend’s third LP, comes out. This morsel of Vampire Weekend goodness should give you more than enough to look forward to.

“Stone Free” – The Jimi Hendrix

Do what you please, you are free! Done with finals. Who cares how you did. It’s done, and that’s all that matters.
