Motion City Soundtrack at Canopy

Update: Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s have been dropped from the bill on Wednesday…bummer.
You’re going to have to eat your dinner early on Wednesday, September 17 because Motion City Soundtrack is headlining at the Canopy Club for an early show that starts at 6pm.
The band that gained the hearts of every high school girl when they’re song “Fell in Love Without You,” was on the season premiere of Gossip Girl, will be promoting their album Even if it Kills Me. Just released last year, the band will be bringing some of those fresh songs to the stage.
The Minnesota quintet, fresh from a recent tour of shows down the east coast, is stopping at Urbana to bring some pop-punk love to campus.
The band formed in 1997 and has since had three studio albums, appeared on multiple soundtracks including Accepted and John Tucker Must Die, and performed at Warped Tour for the past several years.
Joining them, is special guests Dear and the Headlights, a rock/indie band from Arizona, and Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, a rock/indie group from Indiana.

-Motion City Soundtrack’s second album, Commit to this Memory, was produced by Mark Hoppus, former bassist for Blink-182.
-Only two of the original founding members are still with the band.
-Their single, “Everything is Alright” was on the soundtrack for the video game “MLB 06: The Show.”
-Justin Pierre, lead singer and guitarist, also produces short independent films which have appeared in several film festivals including The Sacramento International Film Festival.
-Matt Taylor, bassist and pianist, protested the $200 a night price of Days Inn and Comfort Inn when his flight home from Warped Tour was cancelled due to weather, forcing him to sleep on a bench at JFK, according to his blog.
