Op-Santa Benefit Show Preview

Our 18th Annual Operation Santa is, unfortunately, coming to a close. WPGU employees have all been fundraising all since before Thanksgiving to raise money for the children and families of the Champaign Crisis Nursery and Parent Wonders of Rantoul. We had a 48-hour lock in with some crazy DJs who got really sleep deprived, the 12 Beers of Christmas as Esquire Lounge, and donations from campus business like Noodles and Company and Coldstone. All of this has been a blast and has brought in much needed funds to make the holidays a little brighter, but Operation Santa is going out with the best and the brightest bang: a benefit show.

Come out to Cowboy Monkey in Champaign on December 16. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the holiday spirit and awesome music will last until after one in the morning. This will be an easy and fun way to support Operation Santa, WPGU and a bunch of wonderful local bands. Champaign Urbana-based musicians Isaac Arms, Hathaways, The Palace Flophouse, The Cheaper Hits and Folded Bones will be helping us spread holiday cheer and raise money for these worthy causes. Plus, not only will all the proceeds go toward these charities, but I can’t think of a more amazing and fun way to kick off winter break and release all that stress from studying, papers, final exams, work..everything!
