sound ground #99

Temple of Low Men no longer will appear at the fifteenth annual Great Cover Up, postponed from Nov. 3, because Temple of Low Men parts ways that night. Andy Lund has a new job in San Diego. Perhaps the handwriting was on the wall when Rosewood Guitars closed in July. Andy was its previous proprietor and producer for Kate Hathaway and Megan Johns, as well as guitarist for Temple of Low Men and G. Lee & Jet Blonde. Temple of Low Men drummer Ian Shepherd, another scene staple, relocated to Des Moines last May, and the band cannot continue with both so far away. Temple of Low Men still will play Nov. 3, now at Cowboy Monkey, so there is time to bid the band goodbye and thank Andy for all his hard work on behalf of local music. Lorenzo Goetz opens with an acoustic set. Show time is 10 p.m., and cover is $5.

All dressed up for a Halloween show but underage? Also Saturday, IDF presents an all-ages Halloween show with The Plus Ones, Green Light Go, FireFlies, and Troika. This is a costume party and also the debut of Troika, Jason Ewing’s new trio. Show time is 8:30 p.m., and cover is $5. IDF is located at 610 E. Springfield Ave. in Champaign.

Sound Ground will return to regular length next week. Support your scene to preserve your scene.
