Kilborn Alley Blues Band

Kilborn Alley Blues Band has been stirring up the souls of CU natives for almost seven years now, with their farmer’s market-fresh blend of Midwestern Blues. While touring Illinois’ bars, the band regularly plays Chief’s Bar & Grill, at University and Mattis, to the approval of the blues-loving locals. But the span of the group’s notoriety reaches far beyond the plains of Illinois. Their album Put It In The Alley was nominated for best debut album in the annual Blues Music Awards, while their sophomore release Tear Chicago Down turned heads across the pond at the Magazine/Label Blues Matters from the UK.
Of course, if you are a student at the U of I, and can’t make it out to Chief’s easily, don’t fret! Kilborn Alley Blues Band is playing Friday, Nov. 2nd, in the lobby of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, for free! This comes as part of Krannert’s “Traffic Jam” concert series, which features various bands playing for gratis. Zero dollars for time well spent with Kilborn Alley — just the way James Cotton and Muddy Waters would have it.
