LPD Festival Artist: Headlights

Local sensational band Headlights, one of Urbana-Champaign’s biggest claims to fame, is playing at this year’s inaugural Laughing Prairie Dog Festival. This Friday will welcome bands like the Hood Internet and Smoking Popes in addition to Headlights, who are no strangers to the Canopy Club.
Headlights is comprised of four members, with Erin Fein and Tristan Wraight, both of Absinthe Blind, as the lead songwriters. Their girl-boy vocals are signature of Headlights’ shoegaze theme, and can sometimes be compared to the band Stars. They released their latest album Wildlife this fall off of Champaign’s own Polyvinyl Records. It shows a more dreamy mellow drift to their music compared to their 2006 album Kill Them With Kindness, but their music has always been incredible keyboard-enhanced indie-pop. Recorded at home, Wildlife has a more introspective personal feel to it, with lyrics about growing up and losing loved ones.
This band has a completely unique vibe about them, which we will be sure to see this Friday at the Canopy Club. Internationally-known and blog-trending, this four-piece have a energetic yet relaxed stage presence that draws the crowd in and gets the room dancing along. Definitely check this show out; Headlights always give an amazing concert here in their own stomping grounds. Don’t forget to grab your tickets at Canopyclub.com or at Exile on Main and Family Pride for only $10!
