Monday Mixer

The Illiac Spring Music Festival is coming up soon, so why not spend your Monday getting familiar with some of the artists coming to Downtown Urbana? Get pumped for the free festival on May 10th.

Those Darlins – Optimist

Nashville rockers Those Darlins will be headlining the festival. They’re known for their rock/country sound and occasional use of unusual instruments, like washboards and baritone ukuleles. I’m optimistic they will show us a good time.

Their/They’re/There – Their/They’re/There

Polyvinyl’s own Their/They’re/There will be making a performance as well. An extremely talented math-rock band forged from collaboration between Mike Kinsella (American Football), Evan Weiss (Into it. Over it), and Matthew Frank (Loose Lips Sink Ships). This show will not disappoint.

Sun Stereo – Sunshine Heroine

After graduating from the University of Illinois for Musical Theater Composition, Kelly McMorris formed Sun Stereo. With such high-energy background and influences, one can expect a great show from these guys.

Swords – “Pump It” Cover of Black Eyed Peas

The energetic hip hop group Swords and the Shady Perrys will be hitting the stage with a full ensemble. Check out their exciting cover from The Great Cover Up last winter at the High Dive.

Jack Anthony and the Desperadoes – I Won’t Stop

Local musician and high schooler Jack Johnston has been developing his band and sound for a few years. This band will impress you in more ways than one. Check out their song from their most recent split EP.

Bone Jugs N Harmony – Live Performance

Bone Jugs N Harmony have recently dominated the local scene with a series of incredible performances. Watch this video before they sweep you off your feet in person.

Emily Otnes & The Weekdays – Shades of Blue

With an album coming on its way in June, there will be few times to see local sweetheart Emily Otnes perform with her band besides Illiac Music Festival. The seven member group creates an array of sound and style, which can be seen in their most recent video release of Shades of Blue.

Barrowe – some.times

Basement dwellers Mark, Darwin and Nelson will be performing at this year’s inaugural Illiac Festival. They will be providing the alternative music for the evening.

DJ Belly – Dublin Step VIP

The festival will end with performances from various DJs, including DJ Belly. You may be familiar with him from his past performances at Pygmalion Music Festival. He knows how to show a good time.

DJ Mertz – Live at Boltini

A Champaign regular, DJ Mertz will be spinning during the night. He DJs often at Soma Lounge, the High Dive, and Joe’s Brewery.
