Reminders of summer

The weather this week has been out of the ordinary, considering that it has been beautiful after having two weeks of straight rain. To celebrate the bright sun and the warm weather, here are some albums to remind you of summer.
My Morning Jacket’s Z
On their fourth album, My Morning Jacket powers through the speakers with great guitar riffs and the falsetto vocals of lead singer Jim James. Though they’re classified as psychedelic folk-rock, these guys pack a beat that will keep you dancing through the heat. Key tracks include “Wordless Chorus” and “Off the Record.”
Beach Boy’s Pet Sounds
With the band’s leader Brian Wilson doing everything he can to make a better record than The Beatles, this album stands out as one of the most original pop albums of all time. Featuring unbelievable melodies and strange instrumentation, this album will remind you of summer love with songs like “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” and “Sloop John B.” Though we don’t have beaches around here, Pet Sounds will help you feel a little bit closer to one.
Colin Meloy’s Colin Meloy Sings Live!
As the frontman of The Decemberists remarks in his live show, a solo concert should be like a sing-a-long at a campfire. This album will be like a get-together with that friend of yours who plays guitar all the time. Playing songs from his band’s albums such as “The Engine Driver” and “We Both Go Down Together” along with some cool covers, you’ll feel as if you’re a part of the “Kumbaya” circle.
Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III
With an almost flawless album from the self-proclaimed best rapper today, his beats are sure to have you dancing so much you’ll sweat through your clothes. For his long-awaited third album, Wayne delivers with masterful rhymes that compare to no other lyricist out there. Some of the best tracks to look for are “Mrs. Officer” and “Mr. Carter.” I dare you not to fall victim to the beat.
